A stylized still life from a cold, rainy day in blue tones. Notes: This is my first still life since Blush Romance and it took a lot longer to create; mainly because I just couldn’t get things to look the way I wanted and wasn’t too sure what I really wanted. I think I spent about three weeks just trying to get the arrangement and content of the scene correct and then another week for the lighting and actual rendering. I’m so glad to finally have it finished. Tech Notes: Most of the scene was rendered in Poser with a custom IDL light setup and dynamic cloth (the silk draped over the books). The reflection is a raytraced reflection rendered in Poser on the window glass. For the backdrop beyond the glass is a black and white photo of a city skyline that I heavily blurred to give a depth of field effect. Although much of the scene was rendered in blue, I enhanced the blue tones and “moodiness” effects using postwork in Photoshop. I also added the raindrops using brushes and masks in postwork.
