Description

The trouble with teaching for an outdoor person can be being trapped indoors, unless you teach sport. Or art. When the weather was warm nothing would have kept me in: I took every opportunity to take my groups outside, and although some kids hated it, because they weren't used to leaving fairly comfy seats and music, most liked the change. If I had a difficult class containing the odd escapologist, we would go into the tennis court, where they were contained, and from where there was a good view of the council houses in the adjoining road. I could have even locked us in, but the need never actually arose! This is a bit of the view, obviously I was there to help my artists, so it is one of hundreds of unfinished bits. I always did a bit of work myself, thereby helping to disprove the old saying "If you can't do it yourself, TEACH. And if you can't teach, teach others to teach" !

My dad said that to my step-sister-in-law, she's a retired teacher, and she wouldn't talk to him for years! I think that was what dad wanted.
Great work on the image

We would have LOVED you in my high school, especially as the weather got warmer. I really like the unfinished look of this. It adds more impact to the central image. An excellent illustration.

This looks like paint, or at least paint from a pencil. I see washes in it, at least. The open peephole (through a few links) is marvelous, given that the rest of the space is the paper. Like peering through the paper to see the world...The design is very geometrically satisfying, with all the straight lines of the house (but for one) contrasted with the diagonals of the fence. Really well done, Andrea. A really well-done painting-sketch. It looks familiar to me, I don't know why, but it's wonderful.

(Here are 4 Cezannes, with round objects ((fruits)) which your last piece reminded me of. I couldn't find the examples of those 'stray strokes', but I did find some examples of his 'sculpted' modeling---a sculpted technique he uses on some of the tables and cloths too---and his very vivid yellows, reds, etc. His spheres are alive.
