Description

Still learning.. Pretty much gave up on water conversion for now. I realized the 2 minute render was pretty much the preview mode for Octane. I found the settings where finished renders should be done,,,,( I think) and wrestled with the lighting since nothing form DAZ is converted, I the lighting studios I bought are now no good. Anyway I cranked this one up to 25,000 samples (as it says will get more realistic image. This one took over an 1 hours to render, still way faster than DAZ with my new card which is slower than my old Titan X card was with DAZ now. Well as you can see from this failure I must have cranked to high or have to adjust or replace the DAZ material conversion Octane does. Sorry still have not gotten to your renders as I am in a learning mode right now. FYI Octane tutorials and Manual are a waste as they assume one has an advance knowledge of nodes, lighting, alpha channels and the like. None of the adjustment slides explain what that function does or how it effects the end result. It assumes you already know, so it id back to school for me. Sheez, I was hoping to learn Photoshop before I kicked, since it was on my bucket list.

Your girl is taking in a lot of light, maybe from the sss settings? Otherwise this looks pretty good, especially the ivy. I think you are making progress!

Its really only lacking shadow and depth. Your high render settings knocked them out. Practice makes perfect so dont give up. As for Photoshop...its pretty easy to learn. You just have to go in and play with it every day until it all becomes familiar. In this image for example...taking it into Photoshop and adjusting the Exposure/Gamma and Bright/Contrast under the IMAGE menu would have turned this image into something totally different. :)

Looks like a whole new set of things to work out... It seems like the lighting works so differently from application to application, and with each on there's a whole new learning curve. I'm just starting to get the hang of DAZ lighting...

It looks like you're making progress, Rick - just keep plugging away - that's half the fun!

Iray is enough to wrap my head around. Octane sounds even more of a pain to work with if it doesn't do any material conversion.
