Description

When I was a school girl we always had a cooked breakfast preceded by a glass of hot water, and I suppose I acquired a taste for it then. It has to be hot, not luke warm Another Here

You remember "Beyond the Fringe"---their routine on WWII? (A fake documentary.) There was a couple who always said---even after bombs destroyed their village---"you put on a kettle: We'll have a nice cup of hot tea". (The British spirit of not letting anything get you down.) In the last version, the man says, "you put on a kettle: We'll have a nice cup of boilin' 'ot water..." (Rationing...) Well, I had no idea people actually drank it by choice! I mean, if they had other things to drink! Well you must've liked it a lot because you did a real Andrea Perfume Bottle treatment, on flickr: It has all the elements, the golds and strong yellows; the dramatic lighting; the power...it's a prize. This one is more postworked, and it has those colonies and metallic hues, and all kinds of interactions across the surface. The glass stands like a huge silo. And when we go from full zoom to partial, it looks more like a glass; but with your striations, viral growths, etc. You do things with glass most of us haven't thought of. I love this.

Your post work makes this simple glass look pretty impressive, almost heroic.

I like cold water, but water it must be. Not soda, not beer, just water.
