More views of this humongous narcissistic eagle as it's ushered up the parade route celebrating the 50th birthday anniversary of my city, captured way back in August of 2007. Lots of helium was used that day. It's not exactly the broad scope of a Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, but it's the best we could do on a limited budget.

From what I can see, the only difference between this and the Macy's Day animals, is that the latter has more of them. This is a major blown-up animal. The first shot, he looks like he's taking off---you caught his talons in "take off" position, and he soars above the Inn. (Nice pov, Harry.) But the bottom shot really shows off that he's plastic, and very bloated plastic! That wing looks like a huge hand! Love the people in front (with blue t-shirts): I guess this demands a team. (Teamsters.) Both shots capture the utter wildness of this thing on a city street. It looks like it's about to take out those telephone wires. (And that wouldn't make the neighbors too happy...) Fine shots of how striking these gigantic 'balloons' really are...

Huge, and must have been a LOT of fun! Thanks for the photos. I hope they cleared all the wires without mishap! Keep up the good work! :-)

Is that "balloon like" eagle filled with hot air ? If it were Helium, it would literally lift everyone.

Whatever. I was just speculating. Then again, what happens to hot air when it cools off? Wouldn't the bird just come crashing down anyway?
