Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Spectacular - even in winter. I do love the contrast - the hoar frost, fog and blue skies - all mixed up. I really want to visit you! Better get back to the UK in summer!

Always a treat to see your garden in every season. Seems the witch hazel blooms no matter the weather. Tough little plant. I particularly like the frost on the leaves. Reminds me of the salt rim on a margarita glass.

You know, I forgot about this series! I got so caught up in your other series, I forgot this monthly group of treasures. All the pics are beautiful, you have some beautiful fog shots, a wonderful ice shot with stalks coming through the patterns, some beautiful shots of red leaves and pink leaves and gorgeous green leaves with white trim (I don't know botanical names, unfortunately), I love the shot of all that dried flower-dom on the bottom left, and the shot of Ralph coming down the walkway---I just love all that stuff in winter brittleness, a wonderful collision of forms and lines, I love shots like those. And the fog in the center shot, softening all those harsh, brittle forms. You really did well with shots that don't usually show off nature. A beautiful, frost and fog filled, brittle collection.
