Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I remember those banners. Thanks for the link, it was nice to see them again. Now this is outstanding. It could be seen as a sort of Yin/Yang, good/evil piece. However one looks at it, it is a fine piece of art.

well you know what I thought of those banners: I left, like, 2 million words on them and told everyone I knew on RR about them, and they still stick out in my mind as one of the highlights from any artist I've ever known. As for this piece, the original is delightful not only for the wonderful shapes---and the gradations inside each shape---but for the colors you used. Strong shadows in the waters make a really fine contrast. The PS version is like the roots of the plants, shooting down into another dimension...Delightful, Andrea. (And I've yet to do good 'blow art': I just get big splotches. I think you have to have a little of a flautist in you to do this right...) (I got nice patterns on the wall though...)
