Description
See the carvings on the bottom?
Here's what they're thinking...
-----------------------------
...I was a carving from an ancient civilization who roamed these parts many ages ago, I was in the lava that formed this continent, my cousin became part of the first amino acids---he wrote to me from a prehistoric tide pool, and sent me a selfie---I was part of the sun when it created all the planets, I developed the first 'fans' for the sun (to keep cool), my nuclear bits were once scattered across 300 galaxies and it took 2 billion years to find them, I was a member in good standing in the universe just before this one, I was part of the one before that and the one before that, I saw the Big Bang and yes, it was pretty cool, my dust was inhaled (on earth) by Moses, Buddha, Krishna, Spider Woman and Tjo (Tjo was the sun goddess of the southeast indians), my sister---Katrina Akhmatova---was an early berry that was eaten by a dinosaur named "Lupe," and I was dug-up 100 years ago to be shaped into stone and sculpted for this building and---while there---fell in love with a mailbox across the street, named "Patsy," and we eloped and spent our honeymoon on the east wall of a cathedral in Seville.
Now?
I run a small business for ants, who stay in my nooks and crannies and say they 'love' it. (It's a bed and breakfast. We serve pebbles.) Oh! And I saw the glaciers that formed the upper Midwest---including Lake Michigan---and I knew two of the glaciers personally. And their kids. And their dog. One of them showed me the secrets of nuclear fission...
That's all...

Every stone has a story to tell and this one is right up there at the top of stone stories. And I suspect there may be eons of other events that will remain forever buried in stony silence. It doesn't surprise me that you live near a building that fell in love with a mailbox named Patsy. You do make me laugh, Mark, in the most delightful way. :o)

You know, I can believe this and understand the beauty of formation and transformation

A very interesting reincarnation story, Mark. And I'm sure you still have several intriguing events overlooked. LOL. Anyway, I just love ALL of it, as of course this amazing photo!

LOL - I never really thought about the stories stones have to tell. Wonderful writing, Mark! Perhaps I should clear my mind and listen to what they have to say... Lots of limestone around here - perhaps I could hear stories of life on an ancient seabed.

An amusing bit of drollery in your narration, Mark. The German Shepherd prepares to leap, and, there was no such thing as what we consider to be time before the Big Bang.

What a depressing narrative realizing a stone has had a more interesting life than mine! Oh, but I would so enjoy a walk through the corridors of your mind.

What a marvelous story! I like the way it makes me think about the things around me. Everything was once (or twice) something else.
And Andrea ... !! :)
