Description
A flight of two F3H Demons over an rebuild Essex carrier of the 50ies./60ies. The carrier is a low poly model. I am working on a high poly model of this type. The Demon was the last incarnation of the 2nd generation of jet naval jets and introduced a lot of new technology. It paved the way to the third generation jets, like the Phantom II. It was the first using the new Sparrow III missile.

As much as I know (I may be wrong) the Demon was an unsuccessful development of Mc Donnell Douglas, but out of this evolved (as you said) the very successful Phantom. Very nicely rendered!

Yes, it suffered from problems with the engine, like many projects of that time. The first model was not introduced and all build airframes were scraped or used as training assets. It was was a big mess because these jets were not cheap. Nonetheless it was a big technological step forward, too big for that time, like some other projects I will introduce later...

very atmospheric scene :)

I think the problem was the period, jet aircraft became obsolete very fast. The Crusader is of the same period. The Demon didn't steal it's name, it went supersonic on his first flight. I think the bow of the carrier needs more flare. Very nice render.

This is a particularly nice render. I like all the activity on the Essex, and it's good to see some lesser aircraft...the ones that were stepping stones to the classics. You can see a bit of the future A-4 and F-4 in the air frame design. Excellent work on the textures too. Very Nicely done!!

Wonderful composition and nice to see, like steelrazer says, some of the lesser known aircraft of that era. I like!!!

I love the vintage jets, the Navy ones in particular. You have done an excellent job here.
