I am sorry, but again water and again aircraft carrier, but I like the combination of aircraft carriers and aircrafts... ;-)
Just another of these failed projects. Westinghouse advertised their engines with performances they couldn't deliver and so the Cutlass was another victim of Westinghouses promises... The Cutlass was the most radical fighter design ever to achieve fleet service. It was a design of the first jet generation with many details common for later generations. It was ahead of it's time. And it failed because the faulty engines. It was the first jet carrying the new Sparrow missiles.
BTW, after the next debacle with the Demon (see previous picture) Westinghouse withdraw from engine development and production.

The Cutlass was a pretty interesting looking aircraft. I remember making a model of it when I was a kid. Another beautiful render as always. I like these naval subjects...especially the aircraft with carrier ones. Keep up the great work!

Another phantastic Render. I rememner building the Saratoga Kit from Revell when I was a child, and I wondered about these strange looking planes (hence the Cutlass), which came with it.
How ever, could it be, that this Aircraft carrier in your image went through a Time Vortex directly from WWII to the Jet age??? It looks a bit outdated to me ;-)

Well, flight operation with the Cutlass began in early 50ies when the Essex carriers were not rebuild (the early design stage began in 1945). Rebuilding of the carriers with angled deck began in the mid 50ies. This one is a bare metal test aircraft. So I use an Essex type carrier in its early incarnation... ;-)

Between you and steelrazor I'm getting my fill of the '50's (LOL). Lovin' every minute of it, too! The Cutlass was definitely cut from a different cloth. Great Job.
