Description

Bowman Beyond The Infinite by RSand55 I'm a huge SciFi and Fantasy fan and a lot of my professional art has been in this genre through sculpture and hero class props and models. Probably the finest example of pure SciFi was Kubrick's 2001. The film's climax was so surreal, it leaves a lasting impression. In this piece, I wanted to show Dave Bowman's Pod as it traveled through the Monolith's "wormhole corridor" from a look back perspective (something we didn't see in the film). I kept the film's original aspect ratio of 2.21 to 1 to try to make it look as authentic as possible. This could not have been done without Alvatar's beautiful EVA Pod model and of course Mr. Trumbull's fantastic background. Thanks for looking! Done in Daz 4.9 Pron and rendered in 3Delight. Post work in PSP. EVA Pod by Alvatar Slit-scan background by Douglas Trumbull

Yes Kubrick knew how make memorable images, from the pilot dropping out of a B52 on an atomic bomb in Dr Strangelove to the "here's Johnny" scene in the Shining. Cool render, thanks for reminding me.
