Description
my great great grandfather built this home starting around 1901 using timbers from wrecked ships from a hurricane. he had built another house that was destroyed in the same hurricane. he had foot operated tools that he used to cut all of the ornate trim that is on display in the museum
the second owners donated the home to the city

I'd say he did a fantastic job. I wonder what he would have thought if someone had told him when he was building that house that it would someday be a museum.

what a cute and charming building with enchanting details! and your grandfather built it? coool! I would like to own this, I want it, I must have this 😊but I never did understand why you build houses with wood instead stones when you know about tornados in this arear! Ship this wonderful building to norway and it will not be destroyed 😘

he was a master carpenter and plenty of wood was available for free. I do not think, that he was a stone mason. I never met him, only my mother
