Description

Just look at these prices.. and this is John Lewis, so on this day this was the lowest price anywhere. I think my Scrabble was under £1, but I have to admit it;'s a bit shabby now! And Here is something dating back to the seveties I found in a drawer today

You could probably still get Scrabble for a pound at a thrift store. Don't you just love how companies play on people's nostalgia to get them to pay ridiculous prices. Well the jokes on them since I still have most of the games I played as a child. As for your other image, I would have commented sooner but found myself trying to see how many words I could make.

Yes, pretty pricey. Used to play Risk & Monopoly a lot when I was a kid & still play Scrabble & Rummikub with my wife pretty often - fun & keeps the brain cells active...

Love this nostalgic foto----I had most of those games at one time or another and I play Scrabble online almost every night. My mom and I used to play and she was ruthless!!

Some golden oldies indeed !

Never saw the one on Flicker before, but appears to be a fun game, some four letter words can be ( racy) .

LOL.

never heard of "cuss," lol, but your shot was a terrific abstract! This shot's a terrific abstract too, with the patterns all contrasting and playing off each other. Your postwork, as always, studies, penetrates and plays. And I've seen some of the prices too---they're through the roof! (For a board game, certainly!) Did you know (or did I ever tell you) that Monopoly was originally designed with the Depression in mind, that all its symbols were shots at the rich, and how the poor were treated at the time? Get out of Jail Free had meaning to people in debt, as did owning a sliver of property; the railroads were, of course, massive symbols of wealth back then. Even the board pieces showed the age--an old beat-up shoe, a top hat (for the rich), etc. The properties of course were based on Atlantic City. And the game was tilted towards the rich squeezing out the poor. (Sounds like today.) Fascinating history, and I love how you handled the patterns and abstractions of this shot.
