Marvelous work, Jock! The broken strings are so impressive and cool. Imagine the stories that violin could tell. You certainly told a wonderful story of the violin here in your painting, my friend!

Doug Kershaw from Louisiana, violin/fiddle would look like this after every performance. he would change fiddles in between songs

Rosin on the bow, and here we go. Exceedingly cool deep color painting of the erstwhile fiddle (Strad, Amati?) and environs, Jock.

Jock, I've said this a million times, but you are the musician's artist. No one I know---and no artist I've seen in museums, galleries and in history books---gets the essence of music and musicians the way you do. There aren't even people in this painting, yet it still feels like a musician's painting. I love the hairs on the bow flying all over the place. And the glow of the violin case---you got that deep glow, like it's alive in there. And the bold oranges and yellows on the violin. And the wonderful mix of angles and lines in this very cloistered, close painting---just what a "musician's corner" looks like. Lots of dark and purples, w/ other instruments in the background, maybe a piano too. And an old dial radio---AM! With numbers up to 160! And the big bright posters---reminders that this is a musical place. You apply the paint with thick strong strokes, they jump out and sing, everytime. And in the center---the fiddle, standing proud, probably beat up (having seen it all): But it stands tall as the "star" of your image. Wonderful. You're a whale of an artist, sir.

Jock, this painting is incredible and gorgeous! the colors, the light, the composition, all is in harmony and with a touch of nostalgia! the curved lines in center effectful like riped strings what makes the mood a little bit sad! I love it, fav 🤗

What an amazing painting Jocko, so invigorating, as if one can almost hear the tune, that was played - a bit of Jazz ? I do concur with Mark's comment all the way... 🎨

Apologies for the late replies, I have been kept extremely busy, as of the last 3 months, I am sure you will understand !
