Description

The Saint-Salvy collegiate church has a heterogeneous appearance, reflecting the evolution of the construction methods, mixing roman languedocian art and gothic architecture. The caesura between the two styles is also opposed in materials, stone for the old and red brick for the newest. The duration of the work for buiding it, over nearly seven centuries, was determined by the alternation of good or lean periods.

I love the contrast in the construction materials and your explanation of their origins! These larger, older stones are absolutely gorgeous. And your POV here is spectacular, JC! What a marvelous shot, my friend.

It probably needed to have a lot of stones coming from far and get up high where the churches were build on top. No marl brick is the same and is needed to saw. Great picture ;)
