Description

Although many photographs have survived from the time of the Civil war, depictions of historical events are typically drawings or paintings. Experimenting with artistic effects, this is the same image as my last render but highly post-processed. Much of the detail has disappeared, including some tow ropes. In 1864 the USS Winnebago and her sister ship the USS Chickasaw were towed from the mouth of the Mississippi to Mobile Bay, by the side-wheel gunboats Metacomet and Tennessee, respectively. This render depicts the Winnebago in the foreground and the Tennessee and Chickasaw in the background. The Winnebago and Chickasaw are variants of my USS Winnebago model. The Tennessee is depicted by the Patrick Henry from Ships of the Civil War. The tow ropes are from the Rope Construction Kit. The environment is the Poser Ocean with wakes from IN Wavecutter and Spacebone's Wakes OBJ collection. The sky is one of my own photos. The scene was composed and rendered in Poser 11 Pro and touched up for additional wave action in Photoshop and Corel Photo Paint and then processed for Art Strokes effects.
