Description

This image mimics J.O. Davidson's artwork "Capture of the Confederate ram Tennessee" depicting the surrender of the Confederate ram Tennessee at the Battle of Mobile Bay. The caption for U.S. Naval Historical Center image NH 42934 identifies the ships, 'U.S. Navy ships depicted include monitor Winnebago and sloop Monongahela, in the left background; sloop Ossipee "in collision with Tennessee", in center; monitor Chickasaw "lying across the stern of Tennessee", in right foreground; gunboat Itaska, in right distance; and flagship Hartford further to the right.' This image has been further processed in Corel Paint from my previous image, " CSS Tennessee Surrenders". I used my Albemarle ironclad as a stand-in for the Tennessee, and a slightly modified Cumberland from Ships of the Civil War stands in for the Hartford. The Chickasaw and Winnebago are variants of my USS Winnebago model. The environment is the water from Daz's Lake Village and the background is one of my own photos, supplemented by several smoke layers. The wakes are from Spacebone's Wakes OBJ collection. The scene was composed and rendered in Poser 11 Pro.
