Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Great looking bottles Andrea :)

Great shot of these bottles Andrea. I have never given it much thought as to analyzing a fragrance, but the descriptions of this fragrance leaves me confused!

of all things to compare a scent to, the repairing of a bicycle tyre is not one of them.
unique bottles

Hockey pucks, weights, the smell of rubber, I have a lot of agreement with some previous comments. What really catches my eye is the very colorful reflection in the larger bottle. Its a real punch in the eye among all that black.

I love your photograph, with all the grays and the reflected gold light. Wonderful stuff! The description of the scent doesn't leave me wanting to try it, and my olfactory association with metal apothecary weights is that of a rather acrid, damp metallic smell. Ah well. I'll skip the perfume and just look at your wonderful still life photography!

I had to do at least one of your bottle shots...the flickr version is pure abstraction, and would work very well in an upper scale add (where they think that "pure forms" are equivalent to money and class), and it's beautifully captured and lit. This version shows the full bottles more, and your composition---putting them on one side of the image, and some light on the other side---makes a beautiful presentation. With that bursting bright cap to set off the otherwise dark-weight feeling of the bottles. Really fine choice of background and lighting, and the gold undertone---inside all that dark brown and black---is perfect. Really impressive, Andrea.
