Description
Captured way back on 5/3/07, at the pretty Butterfly Pavilion, adjacent to the beautiful Natural History Museum in Los Angeles, California.
Since there is a paucity of insects in my area, I had to drive 22 miles in order to photograph butterflies and moths.

What! No Insects in the gardens? Ok, must be other insects than butties :) Lovely shot, Harry.

Ditto Helle and sossy: I like sossy's phrase "fascinating decor on the beautiful wings" A sterling shot of a beautiful butterfly; and the concrete (with your usual detail) makes a perfect backdrop. Cropped to perfection! (Sounds like a waiter's pitch in an uppity restaurant.) With total clarity on the wings and body, an exemplary capture of a butterfly.
You've said, in many uploads, that there are few insects in your area: I've always wondered why. Is it the drought? I mean, L.A. is very warm, and I'd think that would help insects flourish. It must be the desert-like conditions. It's just amazing to me, as you see lots of insects here, once the temps stay above freezing. Amazing you have to travel a ways to see them in profusion...
