Description

The challenge on Flickr was 'What I Did Today', so I made a list of what I actually got done, extracted from my 'To Do' list. This was a day with no appointments or meetings etc, but I still didn't plant the three new shrubs, fill one of the green garden waste bins, or tidy the ginormous drift of papers and post on my kitchen table! One of the many students I had living here some years ago was late for an interview with me and I told her that if she couldn't be on time, she need not expect me to wait for her. She replied "Why? You've retired! You have nothing else to do!" Needless to say she was one of the very few out of the 86 lodgers I have had so far who I soon asked to leave. A different treatment Here

Cheeky lass !

Just ask any retiree and they will say- " I don't know how I got all this done while working out".

Some will say they are more busier, looks like your to do list is plenty full without lunch or coffee breaks Andrea.

Thanks for sharing.

sounds like you have a very busy life. good on you for dropping that one person

My dad joked that after he retired he worked more hours than when he worked at the mill (He'd open Treasure House at 7am and close it up at 5:30 pm Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 3:30 pm on Saturday) Now I'm doing the same as him)

I thought I had a busy day, but it's not a patch on yours!

As for retirement ... I'M the only one who gets to say, "I'm not in a rush, I'm retired, I can sit here all day." Nobody else gets to make that determination for me!!

Mike reminded me that I had a similar experience with my mother. After she retired she had almost no time for me. I on the other hand have a sweatshirt that says

“Who says Nothing is impossible? I’ve been doing Nothing all day!”

I would not have asked your young tenant to leave. I would have turned it into a teachable moment, given her your list and said, “Here, see what you can do with this.”

from the above comments, people 'got' your frustration with a young person saying, in essence, "what do YOU have to do all day???" Life gets a lot more complicated when one stops working pay jobs, when one is an artist and has boarders, animal family, etc. Anyway, the flickr explains the background image---I love how you treated it, so it's a glowing living background. And the list? I love it!!! I almost commented on it the minute it went up (I mean, the very minute). I love the idea for an upload; and I love the 'look' of it; and I love your handwriting, and the comments---"he not hungry'---and the busyness of it, and expressions like "poo patrol". I liked it so much, I wrote a list of my own! If I get it to manageable form, I'll upload it. (It's another steam-of-consciousness piece of idiocy. I really worked hard to bring my concept to fruition for your wonderful drawing of the people with the surreal elements, etc; but I'm writing so many things now, I just lost the thread. It fell all over the map, for which I apologize. It happens with me...but maybe I'll finish the list soon.) Just wanted you to know it inspired me. Great upload!
