Description

All modeling, unwrapping, and rendering were done in 3dsMax, created to supplement some modeling techniques I demonstrated on my Youtube channel for surface modeling a Gyroid shape. Subsurface Scattering volume materials were used to recreate realistic 3d printed rendered objects. Corona engine in 3dsMax used for the final render.

Very Interesting shapes, indeed. Some appear as they could have been carved from bone. 5 Stars for sure! Is your youtube channel, "John Malcolm"?

Very cool stuff- but the image begs the question: Have you tried 3D printing any of this stuff? That would be over the top cool. I've always liked procedural form-building (not enough to do it, I just find it fascinating) because of what it can tell us about how living things are created. Programs like 3DsMax and now, I think, Blender, have a lot of power to emulate such systems. It would be great to see some animations of objects like these developing from 'seeds'.
