Description

This is the British Airways Boeing 747 that will take us from London's Heathrow Airport to Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport, Arizona. I spent the night at the Munich Airport departure terminal in front of the British Airway check-in counters. Security was not a problem as policemen in pairs, one always carrying a Heckler & Koch MP5, patrolled the airport throughout the night at half an hour intervals. Loitering is not allowed and in the middle of the night, two civilians woke up one man near me who had been stretched out on the seats. They identified themselves as 'Kriminal Polizei' and asked for his travel documentation. Since the 19 December 2016 terrorist attack on a Christmas market in Berlin that killed 12 people and injured 56, the police in Germany are much more visible. The British Airways counters opened about 5 AM and check-in was no problem. I got an aisle seat on both flights (Munich-London and London- Phoenix) and the luggage was checked to Phoenix. It had stopped snowing in Munich during the night and the sun was shining. The flight to London was short and uneventful and London looked like springtime.
