Description

On the way to Schoodic Point, Maine October, 2016 Maine's coast is about as far from sandy beaches as you can get. This one has a long way to go to get to sand! I'm taking a little break from basketball. We're in the midst of March Madness here, which means we have the option of watching a LOT of games this weekend! Our team won in the first round, and will play again tomorrow in what's called the Round of 32. (That means there are 32 teams left.) Next weekend it will be the Sweet Sixteen and then the Elite Eight. April 1st is the Final Four, and then the championship game is on April 3rd. So whoever wins the championship game will have had to win six games in a row. Theoretically, they get harder to win as you go on! One of our favorite teams is playing now, but they're so far ahead I thought I'd come here and see what you're all up to, and then go to the pool. As much as I enjoy basketball, there ARE limits!!

Impressive rocks & your usual fine eye for composition. I love rugged coastlines - much more visually appealing than smooth sand. I don't have a team to root for in the NCAA tournament - I rarely watch anything before they get to the Final Four...

Nice shot Tara. I am glad you are taking a break from the March Madness games, I am watching the Sebring 24 hrs and next weekend the first Formula 1 of this season. I also misplaced (read lost) my medicare card and have to get a replacement before I can go to the Mayo Clinic for cataract surgery.

Pretty rugged coastline. Maybe it has something to do with the character of the people of Maine.

The thumb nail suggested adobe in the south west. Surprise to me when I saw Maine coast line! Huge rocks, waves and fog. The rocks break off at squared angles - I wonder what kind of rock this is. Keep up the good work! We're really getting grand tours of North America thanks to you and Bill. :-)

Magnificently rugged! Our beach is mainly sand as far as the eye can see, and there are complaints when the tides deliver a bit of pebble and shingle!

What a great shot of this amazing coastline, Tara! I would so love to visit the coast here! Maybe after I retire...

No problem here taking a break from March Madness... Neither of us cares about basketball... LOL

the upper great lakes have shorelines maybe 'half' like this---Lake Superior has major boulders along the shore. But nothing can compare to the ocean, more rugged than some might have thought; but this is real upper New England stuff, and it continues up into Nova Scotia and Labrador. Beautiful, and another dark shot from you, brooding light and all. With beautiful spots of light---in that surprise little stream/mini waterfall, and along some of the rocks, in the background water (which almost dissolves in to primal sky), etc. And in full zoom we can see the pathways here too. You captured the dark mystery of the Maine coast along with the many surprises of light and shape. This would suit the fisherman's sense of the 'infinite' in these areas. Beautifully done and articulated, Tara. I've been wanting to catch up forever, and I'm so glad I finally have. (I'm back for some comments for a day, and then gone again.) I'll contact you soon. I'm glad you're enjoying the playoffs. Hope your team(s) win.
