Description

My friend Pat is a remarkable artist. It seems like she's come up with something new every time I turn around! A couple of years ago she did a fiber arts piece with several different green fabrics torn in strips and arranged to form a willow-like tree. She beaded several of these pods and incorporated them into her design ... the Friendship Tree bearing fruit. Pat is also the person I worked with on the City Moon Bag Last year one of the art groups Pat belongs to put out a challenge for their members to make a 12-inch square based on the idea of quilting, made from at least 25% trash. They were supposed to incorporate items that they normally would have thrown away. Pat liked the idea so much she made a different square every month made of 100% pre-stream garbage, framed them with duct tape, hooked them together with wire bread ties, and called it "My Year In Garbage." It's brilliant.

This is wonderful! As usual, you zoom in on the details and open a world of beauty for our eyes. Excellent, Tara!

Wow.... With my propensity for gathering weird stuff, maybe I should do a "My Year In Junk" piece. LOL

Just one question, how are you guys NOT on etsy? (you're not on etsy, are you?)

I think I like your friend. This is a wonderful example of found art and the City Moon Bag is perfect. And she comes up with some pretty funny titles.

I love Pat's sensibilities---making art from what's in front of her (so to speak), and re-creating things in the world out of 'other' things in the world. (Re-creating, literally. Making a car out of throw pillows, that kind of thing.) I'd love to see a house filled with her stuff. This is a beautiful fruit, made of various found objects. I love the opening, and all the beads and jewels around it. (Costume jewels; I'm not implying rubies and diamonds.) And though you shot just a piece of this hanging fabric tree, I love the feeling of streaming branches and streaming, period. Your shot has the qualities of all your zeroing-in-on-objects shots, and brings out the mystery, shadows and glitter of this object and its setting. A beautiful creation, and a beautiful photograph.

Un réel travail d'artiste - patience et ingéniosité s'y entrecroisent...
