My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!
If I’m missing from Renderosity from time to time, I’m busy having fun elsewhere.
Thanks for your interest in my work, and for stopping by to learn more about me!

A truly amazing photo. The tiny people are essential to grasping the enormous scale. And I thought the dunes on the Oregon coast were huge...

No I did not see the people until you pointed them out. Are you familiar with the phrase 'Holy Mackerel'? This is a beautiful image with a very painterly feel to it. Superb composition drawing the eye up towards the top.

As I started scrolling down, I thought, "Oh, this is lovely. Just look at the graceful, sweeping lines of the dunes... She must have had to get pretty close for this shot..." Then I got to the bottom, and just about fell out of my chair! Including the two figures was genius, Tara! That dune is MASSIVE!
Awesome shot!

Perfect capture Tara. The only thing that spoils it for me are the tracks in the sand, and there is nothing you can do about!

My first glimpse was, hmm - Mocca Torte ! so very 'lecker' [yum]... on second thoughts, why would I compare this to cake ? it must have awakened something in me, that is so delicious to view - those dunes of gigantic proportions, near and far maybe from another dimension ? ... I don't mind the tracks, they remind me of ant tracks [also gigantic], they seem to belong there. Scrolling further to the bottom to discover trees and shrubs, with a hint of green, not to miss the appearance of two humanoids - brings all of this together, the way it was always meant to be ! with a great POV it's stupendous Tara...

I spoke about this at length, so I'll be repeating myself here...but, to the gist of it: You took an essentially longitudinal sight and cropped it vertically, making us see it from a wholly different perspective. It's about piled-up layers, moving up from the bottom, rather than layers moving side-to-side. Your light and texture makes each layer like silk or even mist---fine textural work, Tara. And the tip gives just enough sky to release the deep repetitions. And the lowest portion feels like a Chinese landscape: The trees, brush, etc have a dreamy, painted quality---beautifully done. Leaving in the people was perfect: It gives us the scale, and makes it feel 'touched'. Love the foot trails and whatever else traversed those dunes. A beautiful poetic shot.
