Norway, Vik ENGLISH: Hopperstad Stave Church is a wooden stave church outside the village Vik. The church is currently owned by the Society for the Preservation of Ancient Norwegian Monuments. It is assumed to have been built around the year 1130 and still stands at its original location. A total of seven samples produced an estimate for the construction ranging from 1034 to 1116 and resulted in no definite conclusion. The only possible conclusion is that this is one of the oldest stave churches still standing. The church is a triple-nave stave church of what is known as the Borgund-type. * There is a REPLICA of the Hopperstad reconstruction at the Heritage Hjemkomst Center in the city of Moorhead in the STATE of MINNESOTA in the United States. It was consecrated in 1998. GERMAN: Die Stabkirche Hopperstad ist eine Stabkirche in der Gemeinde Vik /Norwegen. Sie ist eine der ältesten der 30 noch existierenden authentischen Stabkirchen. Sie gehört heute dem norwegischen Denkmalschutzverein Fortidsminneforeningen. Sie wurde um das Jahr 1130 erbaut und befindet sich noch an ihrem ursprünglichen Standort. 1997 wurden sieben dendrochronologische Proben zur Ermittlung des Alters aus dem Holz der Kirche entnommen. Das daraus ermittelte Alter des Holzes wird auf den Zeitraum von 1034 bis 1116 geschätzt. Vom Aufbau her gehört die Kirche zum Borgund-Typ der Stabkirchen. Auf den beiden Satteldächern des Schiffes befinden sich die für Wikingerschiffe typischen züngelnden Drachenköpfe. * Eine Kopie der Kirche steht in der Heritage Hjemkomst, Moorhead, Minnesota, USA. Gebaut wurde sie in den Jahren 1997 und 1998. Sie ist das Lebenswerk von Guy Paulson, der 25 Jahre lang die Holzschnitzereien dafür anfertigte. Thanks a lot for all welcome comments ;o))))
