After a break I be back on Renderosity to show new captures in my gallery.
I live in Germany in a city what I hate. So I use every possibility to get into nature in which I love to hike and capture landscapes and nature moods.
Mostly I visited Scotland, Norway, Swizzerland and Faroer Islands and I try to bring you close to the special charme of each country.
Hope we see us in the galleries and think around corners 😉

These are beautiful stones for steps. And, wow, this wood looks nearly petrified. Of course, I should be so lucky to look so good after eight hundred years! LOL. Bummer that it was locked. Maybe they keep a spare key under one of the big rock steps? LOL.

Wonderful architecture. I'm especially fascinated by the intricate carving around the door - any chance you took some closeup photos of that - would love to see them if you did...

The vertical planks of the wall rest on horizontal thick wood trunks. This as a protection of the vertical planks from rotting too fast. The lower edge of the door is at level with the top edge of the horizontal wood trunks. There is another advantage, too. Having to "climb" into the church meant being at a disadvantage if one is an enemy trying to get in. The people inside have a great chance to bonk you over the head with some hard object, or subject you to an unrequested appendectomy. Keep up the good work! :-)

many churches here must keep their doors locked during off church hours because of thieves and vandals.

Das habe ich noch nie auf bildern so deutlich gesehen: Das ist eine Tür, die einem ein Schwellenerlebnis ermöglicht. Da kann man nicht einfach so reinlatschen. Ganz tolles Bild, Rita
