Finally! I got this one done. The file size of the mesh alone was huge so i had to render it in several layers...

Pure magic, the modelling is out of this world, texturing and mats is just perfect, and i love the nebula planets and sheer scale

The background was created in Photoshop and then rendered with the ships in Rhino 3D. Thanks!

I'm really enjoying looking through your stuff, this is the level I of detail I was aiming for when I was trying to do a space comic book, but my 233mhz was pushed to hard and now I just dink around with the idea of ships. nice work man.
