Description

Rooftops of downtown Staunton (pronounced Stanton), Virginia. Much of the town was burned by Union forces during the Civil War (1861-1865). Most of the buildings seen downtown in this photo were built between 1870 and 1920. It is a lovely small city of about 25,000. It is full of friendly people, lots of entertainment and many excellent restaurants. Best viewed as big as you can get it:-).

And what a wonderful pano this is - I could get lost in here.... I did, actually... I can tell this town has been around for a long time. In the right foreground is a telephone pole with glass insulators! You don't see those much these days (and you just KNEW I'd see that...LOL). Wonderful photo, Bill!
