Description
Nearly halfway along the journey through Duat, at the 5th gate, is the Hall of Judgement. Anubis weighs the Pharaoh's heart against the feather of Maat, godess of truth and justice. The Paharaoh looks on apprehensively as Monstrous Ammit the Devourer lurks nearby, ready to devour the hearts of the unworthy, condemning them to the second death and denying the chance of immortality. Detached and impartial, ibis-headed Thoth the scribe, meanwhile, records the judgement...
I've deliberately used a slightly less naturalistic layout for this tableau, to echo some of the tomb paintings and illustrations from various versions of the Book of the Dead.

And Ammit impatiently waits, hoping to put a claw on the balance in order to cheat and get the heart, while the others keep guard and watch the weighing. Nice rendering of this scene. It's natural enough and you have gotten the essentials into it. I'm looking forward to the next step. Keep up the good work! :-)

Ammit was the most fun part of creating this...though I had to employ a little trompe l'oiel to make it work. A mash of the DAZ spinosaurus (in lieu of crocodile) and big cat, with some specially painted mats. I couldn't find a hippo to throw in the mix!
