Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Well done. Great atmosphere. Of course I had to pop up Google Maps to see where Groveland is.

I'd be up for a margarita or two. Bet this little town has a vibe Tara and I would like a lot.

In returning to your gallery after a long while, I always look forward to your street shots. This really does look like a main street in a small town, and your crop crams all that street stuff into a corridor for us. And the dark areas on the left are balanced by all that light on the right. And you postworked it for areas of hue, softened areas, etc. Made it almost an abstract---which these collisions of signs and other stuff, on streets, can look like. The Bingo sign is a real focal point, and I love that you kept it dark: It gives it an air of mystery and nostalgia. The back section---right side---is almost a print, because of the softness. Love the shot. Makes me want to walk on that street...another very 'marilyn' take on things. You have an eye all your own.
