Description

I'm sure there's a far more official name for this plant, but with all its "arms", Octo Flower seemed to fit!! Seems like ages since I've posted here; I haven't had my camera in hand for months. But we're taking off up the Oregon Coast in a couple of days, so I just might have a few new ones soon!!

Thanks for sharing a rare view of the elusive octo flower. Hope everyone evacuated to the nearest octo shelter... 😎

I used to have one of these cacti, and it had wonderful bright red flowers.. It is called Hildewintera (Cleistocactus) colademononi. You could grown some from seed!

I recently gave all my cacti away to a keen young horticulturist as none of my family would want them when I pop my clogs!

I hope it's a great trip! This shot is a big 'mess' of plants, with lots of space and light around them, and some heavy black silhouettes in the foreground (which look like work gloves---the cacti in the front, right). The Octo Plant looks like an octopus (and yes, I'm pretty sure that "octo-plant" isn't the botanical name!) The light you got on it makes it shine. A really fun shot, and wonderfully messy and rich; another Marilyn shot. Have a great time, Marilyn, and thanks again for stopping in my gallery. I love your comments! Enjoy the coast!
