Description
Here's a photo of of the old Klosterkyrkan looking north. Kloster = cloister, kyrkan = church. The monastery was built in 1166 (100 years after the battle of Hastings) for nuns.
Initially of sandstone in Romanesque style, the Klosterkyrkan was reconstructed in Gothic style with brick.during the 1300s. The church remained after the monastery was closed and torn down in 1600.
We see here the walk way to the main entrance, which passes through the cemetery. Several prominent Lund citizens are buried here. On religious holidays or special family occasions relatives light candles at the graves, which is particularly very beautiful in the dark of winter. Families usually take care of the graves, planting flowers and so on. This can even occur after a regular Sunday service, or on a week day. This is quite usual in Sweden.
ENJOY!

A lovely church that has survived the ravages of time due to good care by the local folks.
