Another specialty is shooting with bow and arrow. Here we see the shooting range.
The small target to the right is the children's target. You see, there are some promising "eye pokers" (if not careful!) in training. Looking at helmets from the time, they were constructed to prevent arrows from entering a vision slit, go through the eye, and into the brain (OUCH! Poor king Harold at the Battle of Hastings died this way!).
Archers were trained to stand fast and hold fire until sure of getting an arrow into a vision slit! Aren't we humans so very nice to each other?
The big target to the left is for amateur adults. Surprising many arrows hit it! And in this branch there's NO way to cheat!
Then there's the usual pole with an apple on it (tribute to William Tell? But he used a crossbow!).
And then we have the wild boar. For dinner, anyone?
Dress is an unholy mish-mash of medieval and modern.
Enjoy!
No Content Advisory - nobody's been shot yet, something very difficult to accomplish with a bow and arrow. And there was no cussing about missing the target. :)

Lots of fun!

I am not sure if I want to be that close to people that have never used a bow before 😳

As long as you stand behind the risk is nil. But standing abreast and a bit foreward is not advisable.

You're rekindling my longing to pick up a bow again - it's been too many years... I used to be halfway decent with archery.
Cool photo, Michael!
