Description

All Spitfires.... From all over the U.K., Europe and even one from the U.S. If you want hear it? Go to youtube and look for Spitfires at Battle of Britain Airshow Duxford. And, they are repeating it this year. U.S. Squadrons flew Spitfires until the end of the war.. Duxford was handed over to the USAAF in 1942, Thunderbolts arrived first, later Mustangs. The Pilots disliked Mustangs... go figure! Its the reason the biggest American Air Museum outside the U.S is there. The only place you'll see a B-52 and SR-72 and U.2 together...and they did fly into Duxford! Now the local American crews fly in with their Ospreys! Bringing family for a day out, well why not. Useless facts over now.

So great that careful aviators and skillful mechanics can work their magic in a more than singular fashion.

Flying Circus first made me think of the Red Baron, but there was something very wrong with the looks of the planes. So, a little closer look and some reading corrected my skewed perspective! Yes, I can understand why some pilots preferred spitfires to Mustangs. Speed? Maneuverability? The higher the speed, the greater the turning radius. And that can mean over shoot and get the enemy on your tail. Ouch!

This is really a rare photo of a rare flight. Keep up the good work! :-)

Very memorable. Aren't aviation debates classic? But if you get an opinion from a pilot who has flown both in combat, you certainly have an informed opinion.

From the title I thought this was going to be Von Richthofen and his Flying Circus from WWI. Nice capture and narrative though. Lots of various aircraft mentioned.
