Here’s the hurdy-gurdy. This is also a key instrument. The keys are the grey things on the side. There are several strings on the instrument. Under the arched part there is a wheel that rubs against the strings, causing them to vibrate. Pressing the keys changes the pitch, creating melody. The crank for turning the wheel is located at the left end of the instrument in the photo. It’s quite similar to the key harp. It can also accompany itself, playing several strings simultaneously. It, too, has a mellow sound.
And the musician can sing to it.
Enjoy! I bet none of you have ever seen this instrument before, nor the key harp on my previous post! A pity you can't hear them!
