Description
Akbar the Great, the 'tolerant Emperor' I was referring to in my previous post is buried in this imposing mausoleum, whose architectural style is influenced by Islamic architecture. Akbar had planned the tomb and selected a suitable site for it, but the mausoleum was built then by his son Jahangir, the successor and fourth Mughal emperor of India .
My previous photo showed one of the side arches to the building, whereas today's post features a detailed part of the main entrance to the mausoleum. The famous Taj Mahal lies not far from Akbar's tomb, and was built by Akbar's grandson Shah Jahan for his deceased wife Mumtaz Mahal....
Please, zoom in for more details !Thank you so much for your support, and have a nice week.

there use to be a pro wrestler 'Skandor Akbar' that was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. I have heard the name Akbar the Great so many times without knowing if he was an actual person of history.
I love the designs and style

I like the composition Jean-Luc. Beautiful detail in the architectural design. I lost interest in going to India, but i would like to see the Taj Mahal and these buildings and Kashmir. India to me has gotten too crowded and too westernized.

Beautiful Oriental architecture. Throws you back into a time when myth and magic were still alive. :)
