Description

Turning around we see the newest building: a switching / yard tower. It was still being reassembled and you can see the head of a workman poking above the farthest car's roof. The Brunswick Red coaches are woodies. The dark gray/smoodged olive drab is more modern steel. It looks like another coach/baggage car just beyond the crossing sign. I didn't get there for a look. Thanks T. Rex for sharing the memories. I never rode one of the old clerestory cars except on preserved lines. However, I well remember the olive drab of NYC subways in the 1970's ... when you could see the color under all the graffiti. ISTR that Reading ran olive drab as well. Oh well. They did the job and beat walking. Enjoy; thanks for sharing. I think I just heard a steam whistle drawing closer.

your last line inspired me to find these lyrics:```

I hear the train a comin' rollin' round the bend
I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when
Well I'm stuck in Folsom Prison and time keeps dragging on
While a train keeps a rollin' on down to San Antone
Well when I was just a baby my mama told me son
Always be a good boy don't ever play with guns
Well I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die
When I hear that whistle blowin' I hang my head and I cry

Great capture

Ah, I see a Phila & Reading car! I rode one of these once when living in Philadelphia, early 1950s. I can scarcely remember it. But I rode the "owls" between Germantown and Phila. central station many times. Those were the trains that sparked my train interest. It's a pity you haven't had the possibility to ride a heavy weight clerestory car. It's so different than the modern stream line trains. Keep up the good work! :-)
