Description
Alsace. One word and everything is said.
Say "Alsace" and I would dream about a wonderful region filled with history, charming little villages with half-timbered houses, storks nested on the roof.
Alsace is also a wonderful region to see folk festivals with girls dressed in a beautiful costume with a big bow in their hair,
In Alsace you can eat some really good plates such as "Choucroute" ( a plate with fermented cabbage, sausages and meat) or "Tarte flambée" (an onion pie with a very thin crust).
I was lucky to go there last Monday and I was really delighted to visit a charming town named Obernai. I was pleased to see a stork on this chimney.
Several years ago, storks were on the way to be an extincted species even in Alsace where they used to stay in summer.
After long years and a hard work of reinsertion, storks can be seen now in Alsace. It is nice to see that humans and storks have learned to live together.
So I hope I gave you many reasons to love Alsace and to come and visit this beautiful region !
Thanks for your support and comments on my last image !

As somebody who lives close to the alsace, I can only confirm your statements. Even in my vicinity the Stork population has massively increased. I remember when I walked along a field as a child and I saw a Stork standing there in that field, It was a real sensation! Then there where people starting a program to bring the Stork back into our region. Nowadays in summer it is very common, that a Stork is flying over our house every now and then, and in the late summer, when they gather to fly south i once coult count about 50 to 60 storks circling over our village searching for thermals. It is nice to see, that there are not just things getting worse and worse, but ther are things improving by the action of a few people and organisations Love your picture!

Fantastic capture Virginie. The stork makes the picture. when I was a kid we lived for two years in Sudetenland (now Czech Republic) and we had a stork in the village ( Nova Rola). Stork almost disappeared in west Germany, but when the wall came down we discovered that there are still many villages in former East Germany where storks are part of the landscape.
