This is an LAPD Badge made of polished stainless steel .

Ditto Harry. You caught not only the sheen on this (and I'm so surprised it's polished steel, as it looks like brass!), but you caught the many ripples and contours of the metal, which are very visible in full zoom. The emblem in the center---with that strong white---really stands out. At this close angle, and with your details, this looks more like a huge wall plaque than a badge. A glittering capture of a truly beautiful badge.
