It may be fake, but it's still beat up (the plaster, stucco, the awning). You really caught the beat up look of this row of facades. And the lack of any other objects---but for a bit of telephone wire---makes it appear like a scene out of the old west. Love the abandoned feel of it. (The magic of photography: For all we know, there could be a modern mall across the street. But this strip feels like the end of the world.)
