Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Beautiful work on the ground/background.

That's three oddballs and a dog. Such expressive figures. You have that wonderful ability to create such charming art with just a few lines. The fellow on the left looks like he's just been released from somewhere.

I do like your people & dog!!!

funny drawing and I had to love about the legs of the winner! I remember a drawing I did in the kindergarden where the people had the same hands and fingers like in your scetch 😁

I'm just back for a few images tonight, which is always hard because I have to choose, and that's never easy. But I couldn't pass up one of your drawings: You wrote "don't ask!" Exactly! These pieces come out full-fledged, with no apologies or explanations; and the artist is merely the courier..." Love your array of characters! Love the standing-lady's face, like she reeeeeeeeallllllly doesn't wanna be here. And the guy on our left seems happy enough, even if the other two aren't. And love the kneeling lady, who's putting up with the whole thing, but who's thoughts seem totally elsewhere. And she has Booth-like pants, and those terrific, loud sneakers. (Booth? George Booth? Do you know him? I'll see if I can find an example... Ok, here are 6: http://wwwcdn.printmag.com/wp-content/uploads/booth-table053.jpg

Zoom...He's got all these whacked out characters, in run down places, w/ lots of dogs and cats, and he has wonderfully jagged lines for outlines, etc. You probably haven't seen his work---he's a largely New York cartoonist---but you and he have some real things in common, though you're a much broader artist...)
I love the dog hidden behind the pedestal, and the watercolor 'potatoes' below it, and what almost looks like a skyline painted on the wall on the right---a very open right half, too. Like the crowded/open balance here.
Yep, it comes out whole, it has it's own meaning, and it's a delight. Love these pieces of yours!
