Description

Yes, that really is the name of this parasitic wasp! She lays her eggs in the nests of solitary bees and the larvae feed on the grubs and stored food. I am thrilled to find this creature in my garden. This photo is from 2010, as the ones I took this year are vastly inferior. I was on my way to pop a folding chair over the gate to my neighbours prior to a play were attending, and there she was, posing for me!

Good photo. How big/small is this insect? Amazing how MANY types of insects there are, and eaters of each other, too. So many means so many niches in nature. I'm starting to appreciate insects due to all the close-up photos being posted, but many of them still give me the creeps. Keep up the good work. :-)
