Description

When I see an outcome like this I ponder, "How many times did God screw up before she got it right?"
Certainly, I am a long ways from declaring, "Let there be light!". So another of my overly ambitious Vue projects is trapped in "Out Of Memory" purgatory. I'm starting to get cleverer with these issues but that just encourages me to try and add more. This means rendering a scene many times over. Some of my works have over forty (40) iterations to them. And with every iteration (new thing) there is always the opportunity to mess up in the most spectacular way. Here is my first installment of what I already know is a very big series of not so great renderings. I will say I did learn an important lesson from each. To build Dystopia city in Vue, most city blocks are created on an ecology layer which is part the material properties of a flat plane. Everyone who uses Vue is familiar with ecology layers. For Dystopia it is an excellent means for creating a dense and expansive city which seems to go on forever. But I only have seven unique city blocks to use in ecology mode. This can look repetitive on screen and I wanted squelch that effect. My solution: allow the orientation of the blocks to vary (rotate) up to 180 degrees. Clever I thought. Unfortunately for this Dystopia, I should have restricted rotation to the vertical axis only. And yes, those little specks on the ground are people. It does make me think of the movie 'Cloverfield' though. This mess is going to take some time to clean up. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. It's been lovely here in Southern Ontario. Cheers!

Well, now I don't feel quite so bad! LOL I really need to play with VUE more often - actually, I need to get the updated version. I'm still using 10 Complete.

Anyway, this came out looking pretty cool regardless.

The lighting in the city looks great! Vue lighting can be tough to render, a good pc setup will definitely help... 😎

Very clever use of Vue materials, and results are this spectacular render. I admire your patience and methodical approach with layers. Great job. Worth viewing at full zoom.
