Description

Not the 'White Winged Dove' of which Stevie Nicks famously sung, but the tune floated in and out of my thoughts nevertheless. Perhaps Pixie is a green angel like Ariel. This is a tribute rendering to celebrate deviantArt's 17th anniversary online - 7 August. I thought that I would also post it here as I really do like how it turned out. In spite of Vue's rendering pratfalls. In truth, this piece had to be posted in a belated fashion. My Vue (8.5) software crashed half way through rendering - six (6) times. That's a little hard to take when rendering times are approximately twelve (12) hours. But the more the rendering failed, the more I was determined to finish it. And finish I did - two (2) days late. I started posting on deviantArt over seven (7) years ago when I first ran afoul over one or two Renderosity content restrictions. This was regarding a work named 'Dentyne Blue'. Annoyed by the critics who feel they can censor the culture, I sought an alternate gallery for my supposedly tasteless wears. It was then that deviantArt was recommended. A very different place from Renderosity. Fewer rules to be sure, much more activity it seemed and a lot of adult advertisement - I discovered AdBlock because of that. But that was my choice to spurn "content" I did not like from myself. Seriously, I do not desire a Russian "girlfriend". But beyond the reduced restraints, another nice characteristic of deviantArt was and is that I could reorder my gallery. deviantArt allows the artist to place works in any order within their gallery. Artists can also create sub-galleries for the various themes of which I had been developing over the years. Albums did not appear at Renderosity until years later and all art work still may only be displayed in a chronological order. And deviantArt has had no (that I remember) revolutionary site overhauls which reduce ease of use and drive friends away. Then again, there are no thumbnails to introduce images at deviantArt. Every work I post at Renderosity is actually two pieces; I love taking my work and minimalizing it into the form of a thumbnail - silhouettes being a favoured theme. So let's be fair, I didn't leave Renderosity for deviantArt. Both sites have there blessings and there drawbacks. For the time being, I create in two parallel universes. The blue world of Renderosity. And the green world of deviantArt. Thank you all for your support and for taking the time to read my rambling thoughts this day. Cheers!

Fabulous work on this scene! I do remember your 'minor' issues with Rendo regarding Dentyne Blue!

Hi Clayton. I haven't been around here for ages. Glad to see you are still here.

Good that you persevered with the render because this is a wonderful scene. It's unique, has a wonderful POV, and do like how you've made this a tribute to deviantArt, a super cool spot. LOL, I do remember your Dentyne Blue episode.

Hope all is well with you, yours and kitty face.

Great render with good POV and dynamic. Nice work on her expression in portraying the sheer love of her freedom. Had similar issues with Vue way back, so can sympathise on all those crashes. Otherwise most excellent work!

"MP3 player of choice: I don't suppose any of you have ever heard of eight track, "the sound of tomorrow" .

The sound you hear is that of my knee thoroughly slapped! On the occasion of the Deviant Art anniversary, I read through your profile.

Great render!

by the way, I hear y]ou about vue ... I run Vue Studio 2015, and it basically freezes up on me all the time, often for the most simple scene. To borrow a phrase, "You are not alone."

Excellent image- really dynamic and interesting- love the expression on the lady's face and the dystopic background. Yes- well worth the angst I think.

Now that is what I would call an amazing machine. A fabulous image with a great sense of depth. You were really patient to wait for the crash 6 times. I give Poser, 3 chances and then scrap the image I'm afraid. I have posted a few images at Deviant and I like that site too. I like what Renderosity are now doing with this site too. :)
