Description
Lilla Torg, January 11, 2005
Hedmanska gården, from 1597, at Lilla Torg (Little Square). The red paint is fresh, which really makes it stand out. Less so after a few years of weathering! As planks were gradually eroded by weather, they had to be replaced. This building has had a good deal of renovation work done over the years. The brown door in the wall of the second story along with the small windows indicate this building was a store house on the second floor. A wood crane would be pushed out and ropes fitted to whatever was to be hoisted up, or down. The passage way between the two white signs leads to the court yard. The ceiling of the passage way can be opened for hoisting things up or down.
The building was erected in 5 different periods, the last being 1850.
The ground floor houses a tourist trap, er, I mean shop!
Enjoy!

Well, I can see, just like myself, that you're also resorting to returning to past years for photo grist to display on Renderosity. I'm physically not up to par now to return to the great spots I used to go to for my unusual captures, so I have to post stuff from years past. But I digress. Great geometrical patterns and color combinations in the above. A handsome historical edifice indeed. And my fire hydrant was not a plastic fake, it's the real thing. Keep up the good work.

Lovely period building!

beautiful building and Tudor style. I painted some really huge Tudor homes and I am glad my house does not have that style

I'm really enjoying these photo tours, Michael! This is lovely, and it's so good to see these old buildings being so lovingly cared for and preserved.
