Description

Street between Stortorget and Lilla Torg Turning right from the previous photo we come to smaller streets with a lot of old buildings, many from the Danish period (pre-1676). Lilla Torg (little square) was laid out in 1592 and used by many small businesses (sale of foods, clothing, leather ware, other things people needed – these were the super markets at that time). From 1700 onwards the temporary tables and sheds were subsequently replaced by real buildings, many of which are still standing today, like the one in the photo. The ground floor is occupied by shops while the second floor is offices. This building is from the early 1700s. Notice the architectural contrast to the building to the left – an early 1900’s construction. The ground floor of many of the buildings are either boutiques/stores or restaurants. The upper floors are either offices or store rooms. What is not seen from the street are the court yards. Some are open to the public while others are not. Unlike Stortorget, car parking is permitted on Lilla Torg at specific times of day, a must for shoppers and people working in the buildings. Parking is otherwise difficult to find in Malmö. Want to go shopping now? There are lots of tourist shops. There’s even a Butterick’s here! Enjoy! Breaking news – Last night 2 cars incinerated in Rosengård, north Malmö, and a Lamborgini blown up nearby. Another apartment building entrance blown up, same area. SHEESH! Glad this isn’t happening in the center of the city, with all these historical buildings! Even better if such didn’t happen at all! And here I’m trying to give a nice picture of the city.......and some joker said "Blame the Danes! They want the city back!" I think not under these circumstances. :)

I don't understand the thinking of these radicals. The only thing they will accomplish is getting the rest of the people angry at them and the violence will escalate until there is a civil war; though I don't think there is anything civil about war. Beautiful building

Wonderful photo of this historic area, Michael.

These radicals need to be shipped back to whatever sewer they crawled out of. Pathetic animals...
