Description
Lilla Torg, January 11, 2005
Ekströmska huset was constructed 1720. Originally built to be a home, the building was later converted to a store. It is adjoining to Lilla Torg.
Guess what it is today – if not - a store! The upper floors are storage and office space. Now, I wonder what they sell there?
The cool thing with old Malmö is that the buildings are genuine from the old periods and have been carefully preserved. And are still in use! A gold mine for students of old architecture.
For more photos, check out- http://hotpot.se/malmoe_historia.htm The site is in Swedish, but it has a lot of photos and contemporary drawings. And dates, which are rather easy to understand.
Enjoy!

It's truly a joy to see these historic buildings preserved and still in use. They sure built them to last!

Great capture and interesting information. Similar looking buildings can be found in many small German towns with similar background and preservation efforts!
