I don't have any more architectural photos from Malmö in my Malmö folder. However, the same day I photographed the buildings I also photographed some of the statues decorating the city. There are a lot more than what I post here since the photos I'm posting here involved long walking distances.
This statue group is called "Five Fountains and an Orb". It is by the artist Sivert Lindblom, 1999 - 2000. Materials used are bronze, granite and clinker, which tolerates water and cold more readily than ceramic. I remember seeing them being installed. I found it quite interesting. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera along.
For some reason, the group was severely criticized when unveiled. That criticism is now long gone. It seems there is a small group of vocals in Malmö who always have to object to new art.
There is a lot of art in Malmö - statues, fountains, etc....
You see one of the fountains and the orb in the photo. The orb represents the sky over Malmö. And just WHAT is sitting on the orb? The Griffin! YES! The griffin is the heraldic symbol of the province of Skåne and of Malmö city.
Sorry, no Harry Potter here!
ENJOY!
NO Genre for Art or Statues! So this is being placed under architecture, too.
