Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

The flickr version is splendid, Andrea, a beautiful, angled, vital arrangement. I love it. This version is a fractionalized edgy electric version---though topaz gives a softness to it. Your use of total black makes the image stand out too. And your filtering---which you don't overuse---gives a brittle, almost 'crepe' feel to the flowers. And you've turned the bottle into a semi cubist abstract. Beautiful work in both cases.
Also, I saw a comment to tara, that you've been having troubles breathing, etc. (I'm saying this in an earlier upload so as not to make a public statement, and I promise I won't gush...) You said you've got meds that have helped alleviate the problem. I'm very sorry you've had these problems to the point where you've had difficulty breathing, and have been effected emotionally. I just wanted to send my wishes and hope it starts to go away now. If you shared this in your uploads, forgive me for not noticing, as I see everything you do and read all your texts. I missed it if you shared it here. Get well soon, by all means, and I'm sorry you've been so knocked out. Take care...
